How Effective is a Bark Collar?

The time it takes to curb nuisance barking will vary from pet to pet. A survey conducted by PetSafe concluded electronic training devices, including bark collar for dogs, are effective. Over 2/3 of the 1,025 dog owners responded that their dogs' overall behavior had, in fact, improved since using the electronic equipment.

The barking collar effectively and humanely stops all barking when it is worn. It should only be worn during periods of unwanted barking.


Will another dog’s bark set off the bark collar?

I would like my dog to learn not to bark only when the anti barking collar is on. Is this possible?
  • Yes, this is possible. This is best accomplished by placing the bark collar on the dog only in those situations in which owners never want him to bark. Also, never place the dog bark collar on the dog in those situations in which owners want him to bark.
